Off-Road Race Cars, Trucks and UTVs for Sale

A race vehicle can tell you where it came from before the seller says a word. The wheelbase, fuel capacity and bypass shocks may say desert. A huge set of beadlocks, transfer case and winch may say rocks. A wide-body truck with scars down both sides may have lived on short-course tracks. A UTV with a fuel cell, radio, navigation and a cage built around long days may have spent its life chasing Baja miles.

Shop off-road race cars for sale, Trophy Trucks, desert trucks, Class 1 and Class 10 buggies, Class 11 cars, UTV and SxS race vehicles, Ultra4 cars, short-course trucks, rollers, chassis and unfinished projects on RaceTeams.com.

This category is for actual competition vehicles and substantial racing projects, not ordinary trail rigs or lightly modified street 4x4s.

Shop Off Road Cars for Sale Built for Competition

Listings may include complete race-ready vehicles, recently retired race cars, fresh builds, rollers, bare or partially completed chassis, project vehicles and packages with documented spares.

Sellers should clearly identify the vehicle type, current or former class, chassis builder, engine, transmission, drivetrain, suspension, shocks, steering, brakes, wheels, tires, safety equipment, radios, navigation, fuel capacity, race history, prep history, included spares, ownership documents and known damage.

A listing should help a serious racer answer two questions quickly: what is this vehicle, and what will it take to put it into the kind of racing I want to do?

Individual components belong under Off-Road Racing Parts. Separate engines and major drivetrain assemblies belong under Off-Road Racing Engines and Drivetrains.

Trophy Trucks and Desert Race Trucks

Desert race truck listings may include unlimited 2WD and 4WD trucks, Trophy Truck-style vehicles, limited or spec trucks, sportsman trucks and regional desert builds.

Current racing gives buyers several useful reference points. SCORE International's 2026 competition includes Trophy Truck, Trophy Truck 2WD, Trophy Truck Legend and Trophy Truck Spec divisions. The 2026 American Off-Road Racing Championship also includes Unlimited Truck 2WD and 4WD plus Unlimited Truck Spec.

Those names help describe the world the vehicle came from. They do not guarantee current eligibility.

A desert truck listing should go beyond horsepower. Buyers may need chassis history, engine hours, transmission service, rear-end configuration, shock service, steering, brake condition, fuel-cell information, cooling, wiring, navigation, radio equipment, tire package, recent prep and spares.

If a truck has history at the Baja 500, Baja 1000, Mint 400, Parker 400 or Vegas to Reno, document the actual year, class and result when known rather than relying on broad phrases such as Baja-built or proven race truck.

Class 1, Class 10 and VW-Based Desert Cars

Open-wheel and VW-based desert racing remain central to off-road culture.

Listings may include Class 1 cars, Class 10 buggies, 1600-style cars, Class 11 Beetles, Baja Bugs, Class 5-style cars, Jeepspeed builds and other limited or sportsman vehicles.

The parts list matters, but the story matters too. A buyer may care who built the chassis, what transaxle is in it, how many seasons it has raced, whether it has been continuously prepped and whether the spare package is enough to support a first season.

Sellers should distinguish documented racing history from memory, hearsay or a period-inspired restoration. Vintage appearance alone does not establish provenance.

UTV and SxS Race Vehicles

UTV racing now spans desert, short-course, endurance, rock racing and youth competition, and the build should make the intended use clear.

Listings may include Pro UTV cars, Stock UTVs, modified UTVs, sportsman builds, single-seat and two-seat race vehicles, 4900-style rock-racing UTVs, youth cars, rollers and damaged projects.

Current 2026 desert fields include categories such as UTV Pro, UTV Pro Turbo, UTV Pro Stock Modified and UTV Pro Stock, while SCORE uses Pro UTV Open, Pro UTV FI and Pro UTV Stock among its divisions. Those examples show why a seller should identify the exact sanctioning body, class and rule set connected to a race car rather than simply calling it a Pro UTV.

Useful listing detail includes cage construction, suspension, shocks, clutching, belt history, engine and transmission condition, axles, steering rack, brakes, wheel and tire package, fuel cell, cooling, seats, harnesses, fire system, radios, GPS or tracking hardware and spare components.

Ultra4 and Rock Racing Cars

Rock racing vehicles must survive low-speed technical terrain and high-speed sections in the same event.

Listings may include 4400 Unlimited cars, 4800 Legends vehicles, 4500 Modified builds, 4600 Stock-class vehicles, 4900 UTVs and other purpose-built rock racers.

A 2026 King of the Hammers entry list or result can provide useful context, but the buyer still needs the fundamentals: chassis construction, axles, transfer case, steering, suspension links, shocks, wheel and tire package, drivetrain, winch and recovery hardware, skid protection, safety equipment and damage history.

A recreational rock crawler belongs here only when it has become a genuine competition vehicle or substantial race project.

Short-Course Trucks, Buggies and SxS Vehicles

Short-course racing builds are different from long-distance desert cars. They live around acceleration, braking, jumps, contact, rapid repairs and repeated heats.

Current Championship Off-Road competition includes PRO4, PRO2, PRO LITE, PRO SPEC, Pro Buggy and multiple SxS divisions at venues such as Crandon, Bark River, ERX, Dirt City, Antigo and Glen Helen.

A short-course listing should describe the actual class history, drivetrain, suspension, shock package, steering, brakes, body damage, recent repairs, spare bodywork and whether setup information or gearing accompanies the vehicle.

A familiar class name is useful context, not proof that the car remains legal under current rules.

Rally-Raid and Long-Distance Off-Road Vehicles

Rally-raid belongs here when the vehicle is built for long-distance off-road competition rather than stage rally.

Listings may include purpose-built cars, 4x4s, SSVs, Challenger-style vehicles and other long-distance platforms with navigation, fuel capacity, safety systems and serviceability designed around multi-day or remote competition.

Sellers should describe technical documentation, homologation status when relevant, navigation equipment, spare packages, import or export considerations and known event history. Stage rally cars should remain in the Rally Racing family.

Rollers, Chassis and Projects

Not every useful listing needs to be finished.

A roller may be valuable because the chassis, suspension, steering, cage and major systems already represent years of development. A damaged car can be a worthwhile project if the seller explains what happened and what it needs. An unfinished build can save a buyer time if fabrication is complete and the remaining work is honestly documented.

Sellers should itemize what is included and what is missing. A roller is not race-ready because it can be pushed onto a trailer.

Race History, Prep and Rule Fit

The phrase race-ready should mean more than it ran last year.

If a seller uses it, the listing should explain recent prep, service intervals, engine and drivetrain condition, shock service, bearings, brakes, steering, safety dates, wiring, radios, navigation, wheels, tires and unresolved issues.

Series and sanctioning bodies such as SCORE International, Best in the Desert, Unlimited Off-Road Racing, Ultra4 Racing and Championship Off-Road publish their own technical requirements. A vehicle that once raced in a class is not automatically legal today.

Buyers should compare the actual car with the current rulebook for the event they intend to enter.
