Off-Road Racing Equipment & Race Support Gear

Shop off-road racing equipment, race radios, intercoms, GPS, pit tools, jacks, fuel jugs, generators, recovery gear and chase-team supplies.

Off-Road Racing Equipment and Race Support Gear

Off-road racing is won by the vehicle, but it is supported by everything around it. A desert team may have one race car and several chase vehicles spread across hundreds of miles. A UTV crew may carry belts, tools, jacks and radios in a compact trailer. A short-course team needs to turn a damaged truck around before the next heat. An Ultra4 crew may be thinking about recovery gear before the first rock section even starts.

Shop off-road racing equipment, race radios, intercoms, GPS and navigation gear, pit tools, jacks, fuel jugs, generators, portable lighting, recovery gear, storage systems and other physical race-support equipment on RaceTeams.com.

This category is for what the team uses to prepare, communicate, navigate, service and support the race effort. It is not a second Parts category.

Shop Off Road Equipment for Race Teams

Listings may include radio systems, intercoms, headsets, GPS units, navigation tablets, trackers, pit tools, floor jacks, off-road jacks, impact tools, torque tools, air compressors, bead breakers, tire-service equipment, fuel jugs, dump cans, generators, battery chargers, jump packs, portable work lights, canopies, pit carts, storage cases, recovery straps, soft shackles, traction boards and complete pit or chase packages.

Sellers should describe brand, model, condition, capacity, power requirements, programming or subscription needs, included accessories, missing components and whether the equipment is intended for the race vehicle, pit, chase truck, trailer or shop.

Physical tires, wheels, shocks and other vehicle parts belong under Off-Road Racing Parts.

Race Radios, Intercoms and Communications

Few forms of motorsport depend on communications as visibly as desert racing.

A driver and co-driver may need an intercom inside the vehicle. The race car may need radio contact with chase. Pit crews may be spread across remote locations. Short-course crews may use radios in a smaller footprint, while event and support personnel can have separate communications needs.

Listings may include race radios, handhelds, mobile radios, intercom systems, push-to-talk controls, antennas, headsets, crew kits, cables, mounts and complete communication packages.

Sellers should state programming status, included frequencies only where lawful and appropriate, cables, antennas, power requirements and whether the system has been tested.

Some radios require licensing or compliant programming. Buyers are responsible for confirming legal use, event requirements and local rules.

Helmet-specific wiring can remain under Safety Gear when it is part of the helmet. Complete communication systems belong here.

GPS, Navigation and Tracking Equipment

Navigation is part of the culture of Baja and long-distance desert racing, not simply an accessory.

Listings may include GPS units, navigation tablets, trackers, map lights, trip meters, roadbook equipment, mounts, antennas, cables and co-driver displays.

Events such as the Baja 1000, Mint 400 and Vegas to Reno can have their own procedures and tracking requirements. Sellers should never imply that a privately sold unit automatically satisfies the current requirements of SCORE International, Best in the Desert, Unlimited Off-Road Racing or another organizer.

Identify hardware model, software status, subscriptions, maps, mounts, wiring and any account-transfer requirements.

Pit Tools, Jacks and Tire-Service Equipment

A remote pit has to work with what it brought.

Listings may include floor jacks, desert jacks, jack stands, impact guns, torque wrenches, cordless tools, air compressors, bead breakers, tire tools, pressure gauges, wheel carts, toolboxes, work tables and portable repair stations.

For lifting equipment, include rated capacity, lift height, condition and service history when known. For battery tools, include batteries and chargers. For air systems, include tank size, pressure requirements and power source.

Tires and wheels themselves belong under Off-Road Racing Parts. The equipment used to service them belongs here.

Chase Crew Equipment

Long-distance races create a marketplace that does not exist in the same way in most pavement racing.

A chase setup may include radios, GPS, tools, jacks, fuel jugs, lighting, generators, air compressors, parts bins, coolers, recovery gear and portable shade. Sellers may list individual items or a complete chase package.

The physical equipment belongs here. A chase truck itself belongs under Off-Road Race Trailers, Chase Trucks and Rolling Assets. Paid chase crew labor, pit support and event logistics belong in Book.

Fuel Jugs and Portable Fuel Handling

Listings may include fuel jugs, dump cans, funnels, hoses, transfer pumps, portable racks and fluid-handling equipment.

Sellers should describe capacity, material, seals, hoses, previous contents, condition and leaks.

Vehicle-mounted fuel cells are race parts or part of the complete vehicle. Portable pit and chase fuel-handling equipment belongs here.

Buyers should independently verify event rules, safe handling, transport and local legal requirements.

Portable Power, Lighting and Charging

Night racing, remote pits and long race days create demand for portable power.

Listings may include generators, inverter generators, portable power stations, battery chargers, jump packs, extension cords, power distribution equipment, radio charging stations, portable area lights and work lights.

Sellers should include output, voltage, fuel type, operating hours when known, battery condition, included cables and recent testing status.

Vehicle-mounted race lights belong under Racing Parts. Portable support lighting belongs here.

Recovery Equipment

Recovery equipment may include tow straps, kinetic or recovery straps where appropriate, soft shackles, D-rings, traction boards, shovels, snatch blocks, winch accessories and portable recovery kits.

Ultra4 teams, UTV racers and desert crews may use recovery equipment differently, so sellers should describe intended use, ratings when documented, wear, cuts, corrosion and included hardware.

A vehicle-specific bumper, hard mount or structural recovery point belongs under Racing Parts. Portable recovery equipment belongs here.

Short-Course Pit and Paddock Equipment

Short-course racing compresses the race-support job into a much smaller space and much shorter clock.

Current Championship Off-Road teams at places such as Crandon, Bark River, ERX and Dirt City may need pit carts, wheel carts, pressure gauges, impact tools, chargers, radios, canopies, fans, body-panel stands, work tables and organized spares.

The key question is simple: is the buyer purchasing something the crew uses to operate the race program? If yes, it probably belongs here.

UTV and SxS Race Equipment

UTV teams may list compact jacks, clutch tools, belt tools, radios, GPS, tire tools, fuel jugs, chargers, canopies, storage cases, recovery equipment and complete support packages.

Keep the boundary clean. UTV belts, clutches and transmissions are drivetrain products. UTV suspension and wheels are Racing Parts. Seats and harnesses are Safety Gear. The tools and support equipment used around them belong here.

What Sellers Should Include

Include:

  • Equipment type, brand and model

What Buyers Should Verify

Before purchasing, verify condition, capacity, electrical or operating requirements, compatibility, licensing or programming needs, included accessories, safety and seller claims.

RaceTeams.com does not inspect, certify or guarantee race radios, navigation equipment, tools, lifting equipment, generators, fuel-handling equipment, recovery gear, electrical safety, capacity, legal radio use, event compliance or seller claims.
